Everyone is involved in the meals for our Lewis Reunion so here are some of the key details about facilities and meal preparations that you'll want to know before coming. This information supercedes all emails received up to this point (6/3/08, 11:30 PM PDT).
The kitchen and food preparation facilities are not huge, but adequate, with a lot of counter space.
The kitchen has:
- a 6-shelf convection oven that cooks and warms
- a 4-burner stove top with oven
- a double sink
- a microwave
- a standard dishwasher
- a standard-size refrigerator
- an industrial-size ice making machine for ice chests (to compensate for lack of refrigerator space).
- a 3-burner propane gas grill (propane is provided by resort)
- a full-size, 30-inch griddle heated by propane (for pancakes, hamburgers, etc.)
- garbage disposal
- large refrigerator or pantry
When its your assigned meal, we ask that you also take responsibility for the set up, take down and clean up. We'll ask everyone else to pitch in and help before and after each meal. Late Add: If Uncles Corwin (family head) or Crismon (reunion host) are not nearby, the food preparers will also call on somone to offer the blessing on the food once you're ready to eat.
Due to the number of cancellations, you will not have to feed as many as originally announced and, as a consequence, the budget for your meal has been reduced. While we have 115 planning to attend, 25 are infants and 24 are ages 3-11. So, we think if everyone will plan to feed about 75 people you'll be just about right.
Here's the amount of money you'll be reimbursed for your meal:
- $130 for breakfast
- $130 for lunch
- $170 for dinner
- $40 for cracker barrel refreshments
The menus that have been reserved so far:
- Monday dinner, Hawaiian Haystacks, CG Lewises
- Tuesday breakfast, Pancackes, Lintons
- Tuesday lunch, Sloppy Joes, Allens
- Tuesday dinner, Chicken Fajitas, SB Lewises
- Wednesday breakfast, Breakfast burritos, IW Lewises
- Wednesday lunch, Chili & Chips, CS Lewises
- Wednesday dinner, Potato Bar, Peases
- Thursday breakfast, Cold Cereal and Muffins, CS Lewises
- Monday night, Chips and salsa, McCulloughs
- Tuesday night, TBA, Duraye
- Wednesday night, Rootbeer Floats, SB Lewises
We will reimburse you at the reunion for the exact amount you spend on purchasing the food for your assigned meal. Please be prepared to tell us exactly how much you spent. You do not have to submit receipts.
We recommend you purchase the food before coming to the reunion. There is a large Macey's in Providence, about 15 minutes away. There is a grocery store, but smaller and likely a bit more expensive, in Hyrum, about 10 minutes away. You may want to go into town and purchase your fresh food on the day of your assigned meal, or you can bring it with you and get in on ice immediately when you arrive.
